2025 Spring Education Internship

Center for Book Arts seeks an Education Intern for the Spring of 2025 semester, which will take place between February 24th and May 12th. The Education Intern at Center for Book Arts will support the duties and responsibilities of the Education department. The desired time commitment for this position is 6-12 hours a week. Benefits include studio time and participation in workshops, as well as engagement with a wide network and community of book artists, educators, and art professionals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Monitor front-facing email inbox, forward inquiries and respond as necessary
  • Update classes on the website and enter workshop information for upcoming classes onto the website. 
  • Take photographs of on-site classes to use for promotional materials
  • Update the shared Google calendar for workshops as needed
  • Draft weekly email blast promoting upcoming workshops; monitor online engagement and prioritize workshops/events for promotion.
  • Create 2–3 social media posts per week promoting upcoming workshops and classes; develop targeted marketing strategies for our audiences.
  • Monitor enrollment in workshops and assist in updating and tracking enrollment and revenue numbers.
  • Send confirmation and follow-up emails for all workshops; includes sending zoom recordings from recent workshops to students
  • Aggregate data from workshop evaluations received
  • Work with Studio Manager and Educational Programs Manager to ensure that materials for all upcoming in-person workshops are in stock
  • Meet with Educational Programs Manager at least once per week to provide updates on progress related to assess skill development, receive and act upon constructive feedback, and ensure that all expectations are being met

Skills & Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated undergraduate in Education, Arts Education, Book Arts, or related discipline. Internships for course credit can be discussed.
  • Interest and/or experience in arts nonprofit administration, art education, and boo
  • arts.
  • Familiarity with bookbinding or printmaking processes a plus; desire to learn these a plus
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge/experience of working with project management platforms, marketing systems including Buffer and/or Constant Contact, and marketing via social media and email. Desire to learn these skills/gain experience in this area is a plus.

Educational Impact / Deliverables and Learning Objectives:

  • Intern will gain hands-on experience as an arts administrator, interacting with professional artists, instructors, and curators.
  • Intern will receive valuable experience in project management, program evaluation, customer service, arts administration, and marketing.
  • Intern will contribute to CBA’s efforts to diversify and expand our reach, enabling us to serve a wider audience of practitioners.
  • Intern will learn all aspects of managing a large-scale Educational program at an arts nonprofit; direct supervisor will also provide evaluation and feedback to the Intern throughout the duration of the program.
