About the Workshop:
This virtual workshop is taught by CBA instructor Shawn Sheehy.
It's rare to see a pop-up book with a sewn binding. It's doable—DESIRABLE, even—to sew up a pop-up book once some structural issues have been addressed. And here's your chance to try it out for yourself!
Join Shawn in building this longstitch-bound sampler of 12 wildflowers native to the US. Kitted with pre-cut materials, you will fold and glue wildflowers representing four regions of the US, each grouped into their own gate-folded folio. The structure is fun, the flowers are lovely, and the binding is an elegant way to show it all off. Instruction will include extensive conversation about tools, materials and technique. This workshop has something for all levels of participants.
Required Materials:
-
Basic Bookbinding tools
-
Basic cutting tools
-
Glue and tape
Optional Materials:
-
Screw punch with 1mm bit (recommended)
A materials kit, excluding the tools listed above, will be shipped to each participant prior to the start of the class.
