About the Workshop:
In this hands-on workshop, students will explore the art of gel plate printing. We will cover foundational techniques, using general printing ink with calligraphy paper, as well as acrylic ink on wet paper. Students will also experiment with creating unique patterns on the plate using natural leaves, origami, lace, ribbon, and various scratch tools. No experience is needed for this gel plate printing workshop!
Required Materials:
All materials will be provided by the Center for Book Arts at no additional cost.
About the Instructor
Sato Yamamoto is a Japanese bilingual artist inspired by culture and diversity. Born in Meguro, Tokyo – currently living in Westchester, New York. She facilitates workshops with Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanical Garden, Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, Center for Book Arts, Teachers and Writers Collaborative, New York Public Library, Manhattan Graphics Center, and Poster House. She serves grants panel at the New York State Council on the Arts (Visual Arts), and previously at the Brooklyn Arts Council (SUCASA Program, Non-Profit Local Grants).
