Participants will explore non-adhesive structures, bindings for single sheets, and a variety of bindings that can be created with minimal specialized equipment.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003eThroughout the week, students will learn accordion structures, three different pamphlet bindings, French stitch, and a range of softcover bindings. The course also introduces the fundamentals of hardcover bookbinding, with particular attention to how internal structures influence the final book. She is a Whitney Museum ISP fellow artist, a board member of Booklyn Art and teaches at Parsons, The New School (NY), Mixteca (NY), Penland School of Craft (NC), and Miami University (OH).  She has received two New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) grants, three Chilean government grants, and a Sustainable Arts grant. Maria has exhibited widely nationally and internationally, with four solo exhibitions in 2023, a commission for the National Museum of Women in the Arts, a recent performance at Lincoln Center, a public artwork at Rockefeller Center, and a participation at New York Immigrant Artist Biennial.
