Learn how to simplify your workflow and make an edition of five hardcover books with traditional motifs and streamlined processes in this workshop. Editioning a book will become an easy and fun task in this four-day workshop with instructor Hadley Vogel.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eLearn how to apply your knowledge of hardcover binding and book structures to create editions. You’ll learn how to employ classic motifs with some clever tricks that will ensure a uniform edition series. Beginning with sewing your text blocks, we will methodically approach each step along the way with a greater understanding of traditional materials. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eYou will learn how to troubleshoot and correct slight differences between individual books in your project. We will be working with both leather and decorative papers, exploring the benefits and limitations of each material. This workshop is ideal for book artists with some experience, and those who want to edition a project in book form. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eOrganization is one of the most important skills a bookbinder can learn. You’ll learn how to organize the steps of your workflow and project in a way that utilizes materials and time most effectively, setting you up for success. Students will hone their skills through the repetitive nature of creating a book several times over, and grow their confidence in tackling larger projects. In addition to her apprenticeship on Long Island, Hadley worked under master binder Martín Farfán Patiño, of Farfán Encuadernadores, Mexico City, MX, where she honed her skills, focusing on restorations of historic volumes from Mexican museum and institutional collections.
