About the Workshop:
This virtual class at Center for Book Arts is taught by instructor Shawn Sheehy.
The existence of cryptids—such as Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster—is widely disputed. But maybe that's because they're hiding in your pocket! Join master paper engineer Shawn Sheehy in exploring five pure pop-up strategies that result in small things getting big, and then applying those strategies to five of our most famous cryptids. Using a kit of pre-cut pieces and a small set of simple hand tools, you will build tiny structures in 2" x 2" folios and then house your collection in a novel adhesive-free box. Beginners will appreciate the simplicity of these structures; more advanced folks will enjoy exploring new ways to apply foundational structure.
Required Materials:
- x-acto knife
- bone folder
- microspatula
- tweezers
- steel ruler
- self-healing mat
- PVA
