About the Workshop:
This in-person workshop taught by CBA instructor Boo Paterson will introduce you to the art of book sculpture, a process that allows you to reimagine a damaged hardback book into a spectacular 3D piece of art. You will learn best practices on how to select and prepare the book, cutting techniques, and how to construct and attach 3D items to the book. Tips on framing and presentation will also be discussed.
Required Materials:
All staff, artists, students, and guests are required to show proof of vaccination upon entering CBA and must wear a mask covering the nose and mouth at all times. If you have a medical or religious exemption, please email corina@centerforbookarts.org.
Students will need the following materials:

Damaged or mass-market hardback book for alterations. This can be any size or thickness. Please check online that it is of little or no value before cutting.

Stick glue

PVA glue

All-purpose adhesive

18 x 12” cutting mat

Scalpel (link to be provided by instructor)

Stanley knife

Pencil

Ruler
All other materials and tools will be provided by CBA at no additional cost to the students.
