This hybrid class will lead you through a comprehensive embroidery sampler to master around a dozen stitches, after which we will explore special tools and materials for making book covers and folios. Students will embark on their own projects using supplies specially prepared in advance by the instructor, with the option of incorporating materials from home.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a 2-part \/ 2-session class for Intermediate Students who have either taken Embroidery On \u0026amp; Off the Page or who already know the following embroidery stitches: running stitch, back stitch, chain stitch, French knots.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eThis class is hybrid. It will be taught at CBA with the option of Zooming in from home. The instructor will manage both sets of students with as much grace and individual attention as possible.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003chr\u003e\r\n\u003ch3\u003eRequired Materials:\u003c\/h3\u003e\r\n\u003cul\u003e\r\n\u003cli\u003eParticipants are required to purchase \u003ca href=\"http:\/\/centerforbookarts.org\/book-shop\/embroidered-books-materials-kit\"\u003ethe materials kit\u003c\/a\u003e for this workshop.\u003c\/li\u003e\r\n\u003cli\u003eIf students have their own fabrics, buttons, threads, paper, photographs, artwork they would like to experiment with incorporating, you may bring these\u003c\/li\u003e\r\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eAll other materials will be provided by Center for Book Arts at no additional cost.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003chr\u003e\r\n\u003ch3\u003eAbout Iviva Olenick\u003c\/h3\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003e\u003ca href=\"http:\/\/centerforbookarts.org\/people\/iviva-olenick\"\u003eIviva Olenick\u003c\/a\u003e is a Brooklyn-based artist developing textiles from seed to fiber and dye and using textiles as texts.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eHer work has been exhibited all over the United States, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art; Museum of Design Atlanta; the Hunterdon Museum, NJ; Sugar Hill Children’s Museum of Art \u0026amp; Storytelling, NYC; the Center for Book Arts, NYC; the Old Stone House, Brooklyn; Wyckoff House Museum, Brooklyn.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eOlenick is a faculty member of SVA’s MFA Art Practice program where she teaches Fibers.
