This virtual workshop takes place virtually via Zoom on Wednesday, November 17 & Thursday, November 18 from 3–5pm ET.
About the Workshop:
This virtual workshop led by Instructor Maria G. Pisano will teach students of all experience levels how to make tunnel books. A tunnel book is a wonderful book structure that creates the optical illusion of perspective through accumulated layers.
Traditionally a tunnel book is accompanied by supporting concertinas sides, which make the work collapsible, portable, and easily viewable. The reader is able to hold a tunnel at eye level and marvel at it!
Students will work with their own images to create the book. The images should all be related in theme and subject matter to facilitate a successful outcome.
Please Note: books created in this workshop will contain four internal pages plus a front cover and back panel. Students will cut into each page to create the different layers and perspectives. Book pages will be 7”x 4.5” – this includes the ¼” tab on each side for each page to be anchored to the side accordion supports. The maximum opening for the windows will be 5.”
Class size is limited to ensure an optimal student-to-teacher ratio. Register now before the remaining spots fill up!

*For example, how would you illustrate a drive down a country road through images? The things closer to you should appear larger and those farther away should look smaller. A tunnel book creates optical perspective, so choose your images accordingly.
