About the Workshop:

This in-person class at Center for Book Arts is taught by instructor Roni Gross.

This workshop is for anyone who wants to learn how to print their own publications on the Vandercook press. In this advanced letterpress workshop, participants will design and print an edition of chapbooks using text. Each student will provide a brief text (either their own or another writer’s) and we will design and edition the book collaboratively. At the end of the class there will be a reading and an opportunity to show the book.

The text will be handset in metal type with additional ornamentation. A great opportunity for experienced letterpress printers to begin to edition books on the press!

All students will be required to participate in 3 hours of independent studio time per week, included in class tuition.

Prerequisite - Letterpress I and II at Center for Book Arts

Required Materials:

  • Closed-toed shoes
  • Pencil and paper for taking notes
  • Provide a text that you would like to use as material for the book.
All other materials will be provided by Center for Book Arts at no additional cost.
