No-Glue Mini Pop-Ups (Spring 2024)

This virtual workshop takes place on Zoom on February 20, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:30 pm.

  • Tuesday, February 20, 6:00 - 8:30pm

Please Note: Registration for this workshop closes on February 13th, at 11:59 pm.

About the Workshop:

This virtual workshop is taught by CBA instructor Shawn Sheehy.

Pop-up books seem magical because large structures emerge from small spaces. Working in miniature has the potential to amplify those magical effects. Working in miniature without adhesive can seem magical and downright impossible!

In the No-Glue Mini Pop-Ups workshop you will use a kit of pre-cut cardstock pieces, a small set of simple hand tools, and not a lick of adhesive to build and bind a variety of pop-up structures. Participants will practice the foundational structures of paper engineering and explore non-adhesive methods for joins. Everyone is welcome!

Fun Fact: Pop-up books were first created as a tool to aid in the learning of concepts such as anatomy, astronomy, and geometry.

Required Materials:

  • Bone folder
  • Ruler
  • Xacto knife/craft knife
  • Self-healing mat
  • Micro spatula
  • Tweezers
  • $30 materials kit fee (includes paper and templates)

More detailed materials lists will be provided in the email sent upon registration.
