About the Workshop:
Using beautiful thick, textured papers, we will start the session with free-form mark-making. Participants can add color by brushing watercolor elements. Choose from a range of different color waxed linen threads for stitching, The sewing is both functional and aesthetic. As a finishing touch, we'll sew a two-button closure, inspired by vintage inter-office envelopes. This multi-signature book structure makes a lovely keepsake journal!
Required Materials:
- Pencil and paper for taking notes
- If you have a bone folder, awl, and a craft knife or scissors, please bring them with you to class
All other materials will be provided by Center for Book Arts at no additional cost.
About the Instructor
Elaine G. Chu has taught students of all ages in person and online. Her work has been featured in “Greencraft” and“Somerset Studio” magazines as well as “1000 Artists’ Books.” She co-authored “Wood Paper Scissors,” a how-to crafts book.
