Luckily, custom slipcases or clamshell boxes can be custom built to provide a perfect package for those precious books.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eIn this workshop, participants will learn how to construct a slipcase with an embossed designed area and a clamshell box with a title made of gilding with the hot stamp machines. You will walk away with knowledge regarding both physical construction as well as decorative capabilities of these casings. This workshop is structured for students with some prior bookbinding experience.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eFun Fact: Slipcases and Clamboxes can both be used to hold more than just a singular edition. She was a fellow at the Whitney Museum’s Independent Study Program, holds an MA from The Corcoran School of Art and Design, George Washington University, Washington DC and a Graphic Design BA from Universidad Finis terrae, Chile. San Martin has been an artist-in-residence at Center for Book Arts, Art OMI, Interlude, all in the New York area and at Proyecto ACE in Argentina. She has exhibited nationally and internationally, including the Immigrant Artist Biennial in New York and public art at Rockefeller Center. Her work is held in more than 60 collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN; the Museum of Memory and Human Rights, Santiago, Chile; and the Centre Pompidou, Paris, France. She was recently awarded the Sustainable Arts grant, and has received two New York Foundation for the Arts and three Chilean Nacional grants. María is currently working on a commission for NMWA’s \u003cem\u003eHolding Ground: Artists’ Books for the National Museum of Women in the Arts\u003c\/em\u003e project while preparing her third solo exhibition in New York at Lipani Gallery, Fordham University for September 2023 and her first solo exhibition in Canada at The Goethe-Institute for October 2023.
