Lettrist Soirée

Lettrist Soirée

Still from "Around The World" by Orson Welles where he interviews Isidore Isou (1955)

Join us on Saturday, January 24 at 7.30pm at Center for Book Arts for a Lettrist Soirée.

From the depths of the notorious bar Le Tabou, the streets of postwar Paris echoed with the sounds of provocative Lettrist poetry that chiselled meaning down to the atomic level of the letter, and thus triggered a creative explosion across various fields. Those sounds and more will echo through the streets of Manhattan for this special event marking Center for Book Arts’ exhibition Rewriting the World: Isidore Isou and the Lettrist Book. Curators Frédéric Acquaviva and Bill Kartalopoulos will host an evening of film, performance and discussion with guests including John Cage Award–winning vocal artist Loré Lixenberg and Jared Ash from the Thomas J. Watson library at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and artist Richard Kostelanetz.
